Admission, Absence & Attendance

School Admissions
Making an Admission for entry to Oakfield Primary School, admission arrangements information from the North Lincs Council.  If you have any problems please contact the Admissions Team on 01724 297133

Parents have a responsibility to ensure that their children receive full time education. Regular attendance is essential if children are to progress with their learning.  Whilst the school grounds are open from 8:30am, children should not normally arrive at school before this time. Teaching staff commence duty outside at 8:40am and escort children into school at 8:45am. For safeguarding reasons, parents/carers should not enter the school building without having first registered as a visitor at the school office, and must let children enter the building with staff.

Children arriving after 8:55am need to enter the school through the main office entrance and parents now need to sign their children into school at the office.

We would expect parents/carers to inform the school by 9.30am by phone if your child is unwell and unable to attend school. If we have no reason for the absence the absence will be recorded as unauthorised. We would also expect to be notified if your child has a medical appointment. The afternoon session begins at 1.15p.m. and the register is called immediately. Any pupil arriving after the close of register will be marked as unauthorised absence.

Term Time Absences Request
With effect from 01 September 2013 there were changes to penalty notices for unauthorised school absence based on legislation, amending The Education (Penalty Notices) (England) Regulations 2007.

Schools will no longer be able to grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. Headteachers will therefore not be in a position to authorise any pupil absence from school due to a term time holiday.

If your child requires absence from school for any reason and you feel, having read the “Absence from School for Exceptional Circumstances Information for Parents” document, this is an exceptional circumstance, please complete the “Absence from School for Exceptional Circumstances Request Form” (obtain from the office) and return to the Headteacher. It is to your advantage to have this discussion prior to any plans being made.”
