Useful information

It is the expectation that the children in Year 5 will read at least 5 times a week at home. They can read anything from menus to adverts on the television, street signs to magazines, or of course, their favourite book. As long as it is recorded in their Reading Record, it will count towards their 5x a week read. Children are able to write in their own reading records, as long as it is accompanied by a parent's signature.

Homework is in the form of maths, times tables and spellings with sentence tasks. Spellings will be sent out on a Monday, to be tested the following Monday. Children in year 5 are expected to know all of their times tables so they need to be learning these at home. This could be in the form of chanting, testing, writing or playing games. Maths homework is sent home on a Monday and it is to be completed by Thursday. The homework will be a revision of the previous weeks learning but if the children are having any difficulties completing their hoemwork we are more than happy to go through a few questions with them to ensure they feel confident.

PE is on Tuesday with the class teacher and a Wednesday during PPA although this may change from time to time. Please ensure the children bring the correct PE uniform. We ask for chidlren to wear a white tshirt, dark shorts and trainers. We try and get out as much as possible so if your child has a pair of jogging bottoms and top to keep them warm that would be greatly appreciated. Children need to remove or cover earrings prior to the lesson. Bringing in PE kits on a Monday and taking them home on a Friday will ensure they can always take part.
