Caroline Kupfers: Chair of Governors

Hello, my name is Caroline Kupfers and I am the Chair of Governors. I have been a co-opted governor at Oakfield for nine years, undertaking the role of Chair for the past five years. I am privileged to have been given an opportunity by my governing body to undertake this extremely important role.

Children are the key to any school, it is vital that all decisions are made with their best interests at heart. I joined the governing body as I felt that I could help make a difference to the lives of local children and want them to receive the best education possible. Many years into the job and this is still my main focus.

My career is within Local Government and I have been a Secretary for many years. Whilst there have been many transferable skills that I have been able to bring to the role, the role of Chair has developed and strengthened my skills set further.
If you would like to raise any issues or concerns with me please feel free to e-mail the school office and I will get back to you.

Vicki Whittaker : Vice Chair of Governors

I became a parent governor in June 2016 as I wanted to help ensure that everything the school does positively benefits our pupils' education and development. I would like every child to have the opportunity to achieve their full potential and personal goals in a stimulating learning environment. My children have attended Oakfield since 2009 - I have a son currently at the school while my daughter recently left. As a university lecturer in research methods and statistics I will apply my knowledge to ensure Oakfield uses its data in the most efficient and effective manner to provide tailored teaching and learning for every child. I am currently Vice Chair of Governors, link Governor for maths, Chair of the Resources Committee, a member of the School Development Committee and part of the team responsible for leadership development.

Ben Lawrence

I am headteacher at Frederick Gough School and a non-voting governor at Oakfield. I am enjoying learning more about primary education from one of our feeder primary schools and and committed to sharing the best from both child centred institutions.

Lisa James

I am proud to be a Governor at Oakfield as I have a long term relationship as a staff member and as a parent, dating back approximately 20 years. I became a governor because I am enthusiastic, passionate and committed in all aspects of the quality of a childs education and personal development. I enjoy being part of a team which ensures that everything Oakfield does positively benefits each childs development and wefare in a stimulating, happy and safe learning environmnent.

Amanda Murray

I have a been a Governor at Oakfield for 6 years. I originally started out as a Parent Governor but have recently become a Community Governor. I became a Governor because I wanted the best for my children but since joining the school I have realised that it's not just my children I am here for but a voice for all the children and parents at the school. I can get quite emotional about certain issues but I know we are a GOOD school so this is why I've chosen to become involved. I also work at a local Secondary school so I think this is a good link for Oakfield.

Paul Baker

After having a relationship with the school since the days of Sunway Infants & Rochdale Road Juniors I decided that the time had come to give something back. I became a parent governor earlier this year because I wanted to help ensure that everything the school does positively benefits our children’s' development and welfare. I would like every child to have the opportunity to achieve their full potential in a safe and positive learning environment.

Whilst my work as a multi-site operations manager for a multi-national company has allowed me to develop a skill-set, that I believe could be put to good use in the role of a parent governor, it is my experience as a parent that will prove to be of the greatest benefit and remains my primary motivation with regards to the role that I fulfil as part of the Governing body.

I have worked with teachers and children at Oakfield primary for many years in my role as an advisory teacher and later as a primary science consultant working for STEM Learning.  I am keen to support the school as a governor, not only as and educational professional but as a parent and member of the local community.

                                Keith Cook

"I am Scunthorpe born and have lived in the area for most of my life. This has given me an excellent local grounding and understanding of our local community.

Having spent almost 40 years in education, as both a classroom teacher and manager, I feel I have a wealth of knowledge and real life experience to bring to the post. I have taught locally and over 20 years of my career was spent in the Science department at Frederick Gough.
Having recently retired from an ‘outstanding’ school, I know what is required to provide a similar experience for our children. I am committed to ensure each one receives the quality experience they all deserve.

My wife and I have three children who all achieved success in local state education settings giving me an understanding of parental aspirations and concerns surrounding their children.”

Vicky Kusners

I have worked in early years education for over 30 years, I currently manage a private nursery.

I have been a parent in the school for over 15 years and have seen many changes over the years.

I am committed in providing the best experiences possible for all children and endeavour to work as part of the Oakfield governors team to ensure this continues in the school.
